Following a highly successful, multi-year career at IBM, Steven started Lingafelt & Associates Cybersecurity Consultants to address the cybersecurity and business resilience needs of small and medium businesses - enabling organizations to thrive in an adversarial world. At IBM, most recently, Steven created, staffed and led IBM’s internal-network security organization (a multiple-level global organization utilizing both IBM regular and supplemental contract workers). Prior to this role, Steven was chief network security architect and leader of IBM’s internal-network risk assessment efforts.
Steven also led a team of academic, industry, and government (including the NSA and Department of Defense) participants in the creation of the ABET Cybersecurity Engineering accreditation standard for colleges’ and universities’ Cybersecurity Engineering bachelor’s degrees.
In recognized of this effort Steven was appointed to the grade of IEEE Fellow for leadership in cybersecurity education and practice (IEEE: Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers – the world’s largest professional engineering society). In addition to his industry recognition, Steven was recognized by IBM as a Lifetime Master Inventor with more than 225 published, filed, or issued patents, the majority within the cybersecurity space.
Through his years of working within the cybersecurity industry Steven identified multiple experts who can work in partnership with small and medium businesses to address their cybersecurity and business resilience problems and challenges.
